intec GOPA-International Energy Consultants was awarded the engineering services contract for the construction of the 250 km long double circuit 765 kV transmission line from Dasu Hydropower Plant to Islamabad West Substation. 250km-long 756kV transmission line would originate from Dasu project site and end in the west of Islamabad through Mansehra. At the ending point, it will connect to the NTDC’s existing 500kV system.
Besides the transmission line with its premeditated 674 towers, the project also comprises of a new 765/500/220 kV substation in Mansehra and another new 765/500/220 kV substation in Islamabad, which ensure the evacuation of electricity produced by Dasu HPP and other downstream hydropower plants to be installed beside the river Indus.
intec GOPA-International Energy Consultants, the consultant, had awarded the work to Firm DECON International (Pvt.) Ltd (DECON), for subsoil investigation for 765kV Dasu – Islamabad West Transmission Line project in Pakistan. National Transmission Dispatch Co. (NTDC) is the Client for this project.
The project involved performance of drilling works from Dasu project site and end in the west of Islamabad through Mansehra involving tough terrain and NOCs from local government. DECON’s skilled professionals provide an unparalleled level of commitment and service throughout the project, due to which they completed the project within time, cost and quality parameters as committed at the contractual stage. The project was completed by deployment of six drilling rigs simultaneously. DECON ensured safety at work throughout the project, with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) measures.
The scope of work comprised;
- Drilling of eight (8) boreholes of 3 meters/bedrock depth each in Zone-I
- Drilling of thirty-four (34) boreholes of 12 meters depth each in Zone-II
- Drilling of thirty-five (35) boreholes of 12 meters depth each in Zone-III
- Carrying out standard penetration tests (SPTs) at one (1.0) to two (2.0) meter interval, where feasible.
- Collection of disturbed and undisturbed samples followed by laboratory testing of selected samples.
